Rahul Maharjan is a Kathmandu based artist who resides in the streets of Bafal. He spent most of his childhood in the circle of cultural and religious practices. His early introduction of art was through the hymns sung by his grandfather. Later he started his art journey through Artudio, and enrolled in Kathmandu University School of arts at Hattiban. He graduated in 2022 with a bachelor degree of fine arts. He depicts his experiences and his imaginations into his canvases. His subjects are the compilation of vague questions that arrive in his artistic practice which is a result of nuances of information throughout his learning. He attempts to find a reason for his own thinking through his paintings, and his motive is to dwell into those unwanted findings. His work revolves around the idea of viewership– about how there can be multiple viewing perspective.
He is inspired by the artwork of children and also intends to copy the characteristics that children carry while creating their artwork. He has coordinated various art workshops for children organised by different organizations including Marga Community as well as Artudio. His intention towards these workshops is to stay close to the artworks of the children and get mesmerized by their enthusiasm.
